Center Charge 2026/27 Season Overview

Location: North (9 Richardson Dr)

Dates: January 3rd to May 16th, 2027 (58 practices + 6 tournament days)

Cost: $1,899 + GST

We believe that every young athlete deserves a place to play, develop, and love the game of volleyball. Our new facility is proud to offer no-cut club teams for this upcoming club volleyball season. Once an athlete is registered, they are guaranteed a spot on one of our new club teams!

Teams practice 3 times per week throughout the entire of the Club Volleyball season, from January 3 – May 16.

Our mission is to fuel a love for volleyball for all athletes in our club. We achieve this through fostering skill development, building friendships, and providing a positive club volleyball experience for all athletes!

All athletes registered for the club prior to September 12, 2026 will be sent and asked to sign an LOI (Letter of Intent) on September 12th. Any athletes who register for the program after September 12th will be sent an asked to sign an LOI after their registration is completed. An LOI is used by all clubs in Alberta to express their commitment to playing for their respective club team.

U14: Birthdate between Sept 1, 2012 to Dec 31, 2013

U15: Birthdate between Sept 1, 2011 to Dec 31, 2012

💰 Team Fees

The registration fee for the 2026/2027 season is $1,899 + GST per athlete. This fee is due in its entirety when registering.

This fee covers your athlete’s entire experience from January 3, 2027, to May 16, 2027.

What is Included:

• Expert Coaching: All coaching requirements, certifications, and compensation.
• Tournament Play: All tournament registration fees for 6 days of competition.
• Premium Training: Consistent, high-quality practice time and court rentals at The Center Sports Complex throughout the entire season.
• Team Apparel: Each athlete will receive a complete gear kit:
  • 1 Game Jersey
  • 1 Pair of Shorts
  • 1 Team Hoodie
  • 1 Warmup Shirt
• Team Community: End-of-season wrap-up party.

What is NOT included:

• Volleyball Alberta Membership Fee: The mandatory annual athlete fee paid directly to the provincial sport organization via the Sportlomo portal.
• Personal Athletic Gear: Individual equipment such as volleyball-specific shoes, kneepads, or water bottles.
• Transportation & Food: Travel to and from practices and local tournaments, as well as meals during competition days.

🏐 Team Practices

Teams practice 3 times per week throughout the entire of the Club Volleyball season, from January 3 – May 16, 2027.

Location & Schedules

All practices take place at The Center Sports Complex (9 Richardson Dr, St. Albert).

• Girls: 
  • Tuesdays (5:00–7:00 PM)
  • Fridays (5:00–7:00 PM)
  • Sundays (3:00–5:00 PM)

How Training Works:

1. The First Two Weeks: All athletes in the club (U14 and U15) train together as one large group. This allows our coaching staff to evaluate individual skills and dynamics.
2. Team Creation: After week two, coaches will divide athletes into equally sized teams based primarily on skill level (age is a secondary factor). Teams may feature a mix of U14 and U15 athletes to ensure everyone is playing with similarly skilled peers. While every athlete will be assigned a dedicated coach and primary team, teams will mix frequently during practices throughout the season.
3. Team Movement: At the discretion of coaching staff and club administration, athletes may move from one “team” to another for a variety of reasons. This ensures athletes are constantly challenged, learn from multiple coaches, and build a larger community of club volleyball friends!

🏆 Tournament Play & Competition

All athletes within our club are guaranteed 6 days of tournament play throughout the season. This includes Volleyball Alberta Premiers as well as other tournaments throughout the city.

📍 Local Tournaments Only: All tournaments that our club competes in take place within the Edmonton Area. Our club does not travel out of the Edmonton area for tournaments.

Tournament Structure

Exact schedules will be released on October 1st, following Volleyball Alberta’s (VA) official calendar release. The 6 competition days will consist of any combination of:

• 2-Day Tournaments: VA Premiers (Saturday & Sunday competition counts as 2 days).
• 1-Day Tournaments: Pre-season or local exhibition tournaments (used if 3 local VA Premiers are unavailable).

 

Roster Rules & Playing Time

• Skill-Leveled Rosters: For tournament play, athletes are grouped into teams by skill level. Per VA rules, if a team features even one U15 athlete, the entire team competes in the U15 category. This will be taken into consideration when creating teams. 
• Roster Lock: If the schedule allows for 3 VA Premiers, rosters for Premier #2 and Premier #3 will be identical due to VA’s Roster Lock Deadline.
• Playing Time: Every athlete will receive playing time during all tournaments. At all tournaments, our club will utilize VA’s Developmental Substitution Rule that states all players on the scoresheet must start either the first or the second set. Exceptions will apply for teams with more than 12 rostered players.
  • Note on Rosters: Because teams carry up to 14 players, athletes are not guaranteed to play in every single game. However, coaches will do their best to ensure fairness for all athletes by the end of the season.
  • Exceptions: Playing time is a privilege tied to commitment. Poor attendance, poor attitude, or a lack of communication regarding missed events may result in reduced playtime (particularly in 3rd sets).
