Standings & Re-Tiering
Leagues are divided into tiers of 6 to 12 teams. We use a point-based standings system to re-tier teams throughout the season. After each round, Teams with the most points moves up a tier, and Teams with the lowest points moves down.
Standard Rules: All matches follow Volleyball Canada regulations unless otherwise specified below.
The Honor System: Matches are self-refereed. Players are expected to call their own fouls. If teams cannot agree on a ruling, the point must be replayed (reserve).
Equipment: The official game ball is the Molten V5M5000. Another ball may only be used if both team captains agree.
Uniforms: Official team uniforms are not required.
2. Rosters & Attendance
Registration: Enrollment is accepted by team only; individual registrations are not permitted.
Minimum Players: Teams may play with a minimum of 5 players.
Teams with 5 players use a normal rotation with 3 players in the front row.
No “ghost player” penalty is required.
Injury Exception: If an injury during a match reduces a team below 5 players, they may finish the match without forfeiting.
Substitute Policy: Teams may use players from other league teams to avoid a forfeit.
3. Forfeits & Late Arrivals
15-Minute Mark: If a team cannot field 5 players 15 minutes after the scheduled start time, they forfeit the first set.
30-Minute Mark: If a team cannot field 5 players 30 minutes after the scheduled start time, they forfeit the entire match.
4. Scoring & Schedules
Reporting Results: Team Captains are responsible for recording match scores on the results sheet at the front desk immediately following the game.
Missing Scores: If a score is missing, the league coordinator will contact captains via email.
Re-tiering Deadline: If no response is received by the time of a scheduled re-tier, points for that match will be split equally between the two teams.
Online Updates: Schedules and standings are linked on our website via Excel sheets. While we aim for immediate updates, please allow for minor processing delays.
